1 January 2016
The 2016 portion of this cyclocross season continues starting this Sunday (3 January) with the Rockville Bike CycloXross Series. Racing begins 9am at Solano Community College, Fairfield. The late-season cyclocross takes place weekly on Sundays until 31 January. John Silva and Esther Pryor report the series “will run pretty much as in years past. AND, if this current weather continues, we will probably have a few wet races!!!” Certainly a “chance of rain” is in the forecast for the first event of the series.
The long-running Central Coast series also extends into the new year. Two races remain on that calendar with both at the Fort Ord venue. Race days are this coming Sunday (3 January) and Sunday, 17 January.
7 September 2014
CCCX opened its 2014-15 season at Fort Ord today with a long two-miler course. A sand trap was deceptive in its ride-ability as both its left and right sides were sometimes negotiable but other times wheel-swallowers. There were also placed three unequally spaced plank barriers at the top of a climb to remind everyone that ‘cross is hard. A good turn-out of racers welcomed each other for the start of a season and competed under typical weather conditions for the locale in September – mid seventies on the Farenheit scale and a good breeze to stem any build-up of heat.
5 September 2014
The NorCalNevada 2014-15 cyclocross season begins tomorrow. Fit and Filthy will switch modes to mostly race coverage for the duration. Expect to read reports from a select event each weekend. First up is this weekend’s West Sacramento Grand Prix presented by Ceradon.
Matt Hargrove and his cohorts at NorCalCX are receiving plenty of deserved attention with their new event…it is a welcome addition to the regional cyclocross-scene. Nevertheless, following that opening curtain is one of the region’s well established series in Central Coast Cyclo•Cross. CCCX has grown over the past couple of years with the addition of the CSU Monterey Bay venue. This season’s nine-race series opens up at the signature locale of Fort Ord.
2 July 2014
Organizers announced the dates and venues for the CCCX 2014-15 season. The series has its familiar September/October-heavy dates of the previous two years and includes at least a pair of visits to the familiar venues of Fort Ord, Manzanita Park, CSU Monterey Bay, and Toro Park. This upcoming season also has nine race days.
