Coats to Captain Cal Giant Masters

7 August 2015

NorCal Nevada cyclocross boasts a diverse community from those with more motivation and attitude to top notch, high achieving racers; the Cal Giant Masters Cyclocross Team simply adds to the region’s profundity. Many may find it hard to recall a time without their tour de force as the Berry Red clad riders are perennial race winners and this year tout three former National Champions.

For 2015-16, the Cal Giant Master’s team returns a formidable group of racers and this coming season Alan Coats takes the captain’s helm. Gannon Myall will tend to life outside of bicycle racing in handing over the reigns of the squad after 12 years. That term also includes “assisting Anthony Gallino with the Elite Squad’. With this ‘retirement’ of sorts, Myall admits he will “miss it all.”

For the astute questioning the number of National Champions on the team, Myall also reports “most everyone is returning except one of the winningest Cross racers ever. Justin Robinson has jumped over to the newly formed Santa Cruz Bicycles Cross Team”. In joining Scott Chapin, the duo make for another formidable team.

“CG Masters will concentrate on most of the NorCal Race Series,” continued Myall, “plus participating in races in the New England area, Jingle Cross of Iowa, Oregon Cross, a few other UCI races, as well as the National and World Championships.”
