3 October 2014
October sees four series open their accounts for NorCal Nevada cyclocross in 2014-15. First up is Murphy Mack and SuperPro’s NCCX series on 4 October. Dan Foley Park in Vallejo is a venue change but features the same locale as the Kitten later in the season. After the cyclocross, Chef Ciano’s Tacoceria is a terrific enough reason for racers and spectators to attend.
The granddaddy series of them all opens at the end of the month with Surf City’s traditional Halloween race on 26 October. The web site still has the venue as to-be-determined but there remains plenty of time to sort out those finer details. One venue confirmed for Surf City is the Cal Fire Training Facility on 30 November.
In between NCCX and Surf City, first the Santa Rosa Cup CX on 11 October and then SacCX on 12 October get their seasons underway. Challenges for the Vaunted Cup begin at the First Baptists Church in Windsor. Orangevale Park near Folsom is the venue for the under-new-management Sacramaneto series.
Along with the series openers, there is plenty of other racing. The Sagebush Series holds their 2-day USAC Omnium on 4-5 October and a Hallow’s Eve Night race in Reno on 25 October. CCCX will visit Toro Park (11 October) and Manzanita Park (18 October). The second FCCX event is at elevation for the Mile High Cyclocross at Shaver Lake Civic Center Park. NCCX, SacCX, and Santa Rosa Cup CX also hold second races during the month, that includes the Lion returning to Fairfax. Visit the Fit and Filthy calendar for more information and links to details from the series.
