The fit race 'cross and 'cross gets 'em filthy!

Sic Infit – ‘Cross 2014-15

6 September 2014

Sic infit…and so it begins. Weekend racing for the NorCalNevada cyclocross season is underway later today. At this early stage of the season there is little else but high expectations; many series organizers aim to quell the ache that likely began at the end of last season. After Matt Hargrove raises the curtain with the West Sacramento Cyclocross Grand Prix, presented by Cederon, Tom Simpson (BASP), Steve Rosefield (Red Kite), Justin Morgan (FCCX), and Erica Greif (Sagebrush) all open up their series during September.

Northern Nevada is part of the local district and the Sagebrush Cyclocross Series has something to contribute to their community-at-large.

Sagebrush2014

Erica Greif is announcing Sagebrush’s USAC and omnium weekend for 4-5 October 2014. Saturday racing at Hidden Valley screams high desert and Sagebrush, the Artemisia tridentata, that is. Sunday’s Truckee Bike Park boasts a long stair run-up with pump and BMX tracks. A little for everyone particularly for Juniors at Truckee, in the vein of bringing newcomers to the sport. Also following the lead of introducing more racers to cyclocross, Teal Stetson-Lee (Luna Pro Chix) is on hand for the two free clinics that form part of the Sagebrush Series. Another Luna Pro Chix racer, Katerina Nash, does occasionally make an appearance at a Sagebrush race and definitely brings along her Olympian and World Cup Winning game.

For those cyclocross racers up for a Hallows’ Eve challenge, try this tour for size. FCCX at Shaver Lake (25 October), 5 hours to the Sagebrush Mayor’s Park Halloween Night Race in Reno, then All Hallows’ ‘Cross at Surf City the following day. The timing is off for elite racers but Cees and Bees could accomplish the “Fit and Filthy Halloween Tour of 2014”.
