Race Coverage Begins
5 September 2014
The NorCalNevada 2014-15 cyclocross season begins tomorrow. Fit and Filthy will switch modes to mostly race coverage for the duration. Expect to read reports from a select event each weekend. First up is this weekend’s West Sacramento Grand Prix presented by Ceradon.
Matt Hargrove and his cohorts at NorCalCX are receiving plenty of deserved attention with their new event…it is a welcome addition to the regional cyclocross-scene. Nevertheless, following that opening curtain is one of the region’s well established series in Central Coast Cyclo•Cross. CCCX has grown over the past couple of years with the addition of the CSU Monterey Bay venue. This season’s nine-race series opens up at the signature locale of Fort Ord.

Elle Anderson, Yannick Eckmann, Matt Shriver, and Meredith Miller are some of the few top riders to appear recently at a CCCX race. But the series is appreciated by many of the region’s best and getting better cyclocross racers. Series winners from 2013-14 include Ben Dodge (Rock Lobster) for Elite Men, Tim Cannard (ibis/Buy-cell.com) for Singlespeed A, Karen Brems (Team Rambuski Law) for Elite Women, Don Myrah (ibis/Buy-cell.com) for Master Men 35+, and Ben Gomez-Villafañe (ibis/Buy-cell.com) for Juniors 10-14.
